At the beginning of May, I came home from work to find a small bald spot of ground floating in the front yard. George explained this was the spot for our farm stand. I started looking for so examples of farm stands. Yes, I admit, they were cute. Cute doesn’t quite cut it for our crew. George briefly mentioned that he thought he might like to use some of the milled logs set aside for a future log cabin. Ones that were in the way or at risk of rotting. I mentioned that he had always wanted to build a practice cabin. A few days later, I came home to some multiple concrete footing drying on that bald spot in the front yard. A few days after that, there were some rock pillars atop each footing. And my mid-may, the first logs were in place.
Twenty days later, there is a log cabin standing in the small bald spot. It will be our farm stand, and, yes, we have dreamed of other ways to use this wonderful space. George and the kids have not stopped except for meals and water and a quick dip in the pond to cool off. Now, we just need some tin for the roof!
There is so much to say about this, but we want to be able to show the pictures of the progress, so they will live here. We will start to tell more about the build soon!
